Description

The history of the Hermitage is very old, according to some works dating back to Roman times.

Local legend tells of a knight in the 13th century who, after returning from a crusade, built a chapel on the hilltop and lived in solitude like a hermit, hence the name Hermitage.

Among the first writings on the Hermitage, Thomas Jefferson, the US ambassador to France, declared his admiration for these white wines on his return from a trip to the region in 1787.

Tasting

Appearance : Pretty dense red-black color, dark reflections.

Aroma :  Very rich and complex nose, notes of black fruits (blackberries, blackcurrant), slightly overripe.

Palate : Nice breeding, notes fumes and sweet spices. Dense and powerful attack, good balance, fine tannins and tight, long finish and incredibly persistent. Fresh notes and fruits red and black, toasty and graphite notes, black.

Food Pairings : On its youth, this wine develops a powerful fruit that can be associated with grilled red meats. In a few years, its secondary aromas, undergrowth, mushrooms, will enchant you on a game.
