Description
Barón de Chirel Verdejo Viñas Centenarias is a unique wine, both because of the meticulous attention to detail during its growing cycle and the subsequent vinification process.
It is made from very old, pre-phylloxera vines over 100 years' old, from the districts of Aldeanueva del Codonal and Aldehuela, in Segovia. These ungrafted vine stocks are bush pruned and harvested by hand. It is also aged on the lees for 8 months in small, Austrian Stockinger oak vats.
This all goes to make for a superb wine, with freshness, energy and body, which receives its name as a tribute to Carlos Hurtado de Amézaga y Zabala, who modernised the family business during the post-war years.

Tasting
The wine obtained has a dense mouth-feel, long and full of flavours. Its natural acidity, thanks to the altitude of the plots, some of them at 900 metres, ensures it will continue to develop well in the bottle.
This wine pairs well with fish in sauce, white meat, roast lamb, cheese, grilled vegetables and pulse dishes.
