Description
It is by one of those mysteries of geology that, to the south-east of the Pomerol plateau, a curious accident brings to the surface a long line of gravel. Three vineyards, including L'Évangile, share this rare land. The estate occupies a very privileged position: it is bordered to the north by the vines of Château Pétrus and is only separated to the south from Cheval Blanc in Saint-Emilion by a secondary road.
The surface area is 22 hectares of sandy-clay soil with pure gravel and a subsoil marked by iron dross. The associated grape varieties are Merlot (80%), which brings fruit, body and flesh, and gives the wine its inimitable suppleness, and "Bouchet", the local name for Cabernet Franc (20%), for finesse and structure. The techniques used are completely traditional. Production is limited, while the harvest and many other tasks are carried out manually throughout the year.

Tasting
Eye : dark purple colour with garnet hues.
Nose : dense and powerful, marked at first by red fruits and then by cedar and citrus notes reminiscent of sage. Cedar and citrus notes reminiscent of sage.
Mouth : the attack in the mouth is balanced between power and liveliness underlining the great freshness found in this vintage. The tannic structure is silky, typical of Merlot, the only variety for this vintage, giving and elegance to the wine. Empyreumatic notes such as cocoa bean complete the finish of this complex aromatic palette.
