Jacques Merlaut is the first owner of Château Camensac, he is a visionary. At the height of the seventies, it squeezes the turn of the consumption which will prefer the quality with the quantity, without counting the concerns of sanitary order which implies the strong high individual consumption of wine and which will not fail to be raised by the authorities.

He invests in various Bordeaux properties and trades and encourages his friend Enrique Forner to join him on the Bordeaux lands. Mr. Forner therefore acquires the Château de Camensac, located in the town of Saint-Laurent-du-Medoc, fifth cru classé in 1855 in Haut Médoc.The two related families, will remain associated until Enrique decides in 2005, to withdraw from Bordeaux by entrusting the recovery to two members of the family Merlaut, Jean, the son of Jacques and Céline Villars-Foubet, his granddaughter.
